Thank you for everyone who attended the third Annielytics Live Hangout! Always a pleasure to hangout with you all. 🙂
The Hangout
This week was full of great questions about events, advanced segments, social reporting, GA debuggers and more! We always cover the Google Analytics questions that were submitted beforehand via our handy-dandy question form.
You can witness Google Analytics magic by watching the recording below.
If you missed this round, feel free to respond to the form with a question and we’ll prioritize if for the next hang out!

Hi Anne, first of all, I want to say that I recently became aware of you and your site and I’m loving all your helpful resources – excellent stuff. I use Buffer to schedule all my social media updates on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. I’m trying to track website visits from each of these social channels by looking at Google Analytics. The problem I am having is that the data in the Social – Network Referrals Report differs from the data in the Campaigns Report for Buffer which again differs from the data available to me with the built-in Insights dashboards on Facebook and Twitter. All three should show visits to my website from social and the data should be consistent, right? What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the kind words, Matthew. To your issue, none of these data sources are ever going to match. Only GA will be able to measure traffic that actually gets to your website. But then you have other issues, like false positives and tracking blockers. So you just try to glean as much insight as you can from each of the data providers to educate your marketing strategy.

Which report in GA do you recommend I look at to give me the most accurate/ best idea of the number of website visits from Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube?
